Awakening the Global Mind
Here’s a section from chapter 16. More to come soon.
Sustaining and Healing the Earth and World
Here’s a section from chapter 16. More to come soon.
I’m currently working on Chapter 14, the transportation chapter. I’ll post excerpts as I go.
Here’s a draft of much of chapter 6 from a few months ago.
Chapter 5 is about half finished.
Chapter 4 has been “finished” for quite a while.
Chapter 3 is also a mess. It’s about specific requirements for the World.
Chapter 2 is a mess to be cleaned up soon. It’s about specific requirements for positive sustainability with regard to the Earth.
Positive Sustainability, when finished, will be well over 1,000 pages. I’m thinking of publishing it like Derrick Jensen’s End Game - one work in multiple volumes.
Right now, I see three volumes, two of which I care much more about than the third.
Volumes I and II may switch order, as noted in a previous post. I’ve written the book with technology first, but I am now leaning toward culture shift first. Volume III is something I feel like I should write at some point, and have already written many pages for, but it will come last, as a kick in the pants (”the positive vision isn’t enough to pull you? here are challenges that should push you in the same direction”) – there are already many books about challenges, and it’s not my priority.
There will also be, as promised to many people, a <100 page summary of everything.
First draft of chapter 1.
What Is Positive Sustainability?
There’s a note regarding my unease about using the five kinds of capital as a way to make the positive sustainability graph more objective. Many people have used that framework, but I’m not 100% comfortable with it. Any ideas about alternatives would be much appreciated.
First draft of the introduction.
Outline of the book will change – there will certainly be changes in individual chapters, but there may even be a fundamental shift, from Technology first (as what we need to do), Culture second (and how we get it done), to Culture first (what we fundamentally need to do), Technology second (a toolbox for a transformed culture).
